(The Edicis team)
Not all that we shoot makes the edit.
Not all that we shoot is meant for the edit.
Shooting B-roll or our crew at work. We shoot it none the less.
There is often so much beauty on the cutting room floor. Shots that never see the light of day.
It’s not neglected, it just may not work for that story, that time or that place.
But we never delete.
You never know when it may come in handy.
It may just be a token of the crew’s memories or it may enhance a new story, it may breathe some new life.
Werner Herzog once said, it’s a mistake to shoot more than you’ll need.
That’s all well and good when you’re shooting your own project, but when shooting for someone else you need extensive coverage, especially whilst working with clients with ever-changing ideas and expectations.
There’s nothing more annoying being sat in an edit and thinking… “I wish I had that shot.”
At our heart we are all film lovers, we enjoy what we do and we couldn’t think of doing anything else. So even if we’re on a really tight schedule we’ll stay for a little while at the end of the day and get those shots, the shots that one day may come in handy.
We’ve created a film made entirely from our discarded shots, B-roll and ‘behind the scenes.’
Please watch, share and be inspired to be creative.
