At any cost (Director’s perspective)

Getting it right consumes me. (I can’t be the only one!)
That may seem a little extreme, but if you’re a Writer, Director, Producer, Editor (whatever it may be) and you don’t sit up at night and wonder:
How can I make it better?…
…Then you’re in the wrong game. (well in my book anyway)
It’s that internal questioning that drives the best work and helps prevent f*@k ups.
Get the right crew for the right job… you cannot have a “they’ll do” attitude when it comes to content creation. Always give yourself and your crew the right amount of time to do their job and do it right.
… And never ever cut corners. You will be found out.
A small mistake or a lapse in concentration cannot only affect the cost efficiencies and timings of a shoot, they can (and often do) have an impact on the final content, and (you guessed it) the impact on the viewer.
By double checking every detail and always second-guessing yourself and those around you is crucial, although it may not always win you many favours with your crew mates.
Now, it’s not about being perfect.
There is a huge difference between a slip up and a f*@k up. But if you are going to slip up, make sure plan b, c and even d are covered…
…it will make you sleep a little better at night. (well it does me at least)
